In association with the keen amateur Dragonboat teams that travel the world competing in international competitions, DMYC is hosting the first Dubai Dragonboating festival of 2009.
The racing of Dragon Boats is among mankind’s oldest organized competitions. This Chinese folk ritual of competition has been taking place for more than 20 centuries!
Whether participating by decorating the boats with traditional Chinese dragon heads and tails, or paddling with your crew, the drums, shouting and colourful boats make it an impressive and exciting sport both to watch and to compete in.
Set along the Dubai Marina waterway, the whole area provides itself as a natural amphitheatre to watch the spectacle of the colourful teams racing.
To round the day off sundowners and canapés will be enjoyed on the terrace of Aquara where spectators can enjoy the final race of the day.
